For any marriage to be consummated there must be a form of attraction. Without attraction, marriage may not hold. The mysteries about this is that what you see as an attraction in a partner may not appeal to another person, this is the true interpretation of love. This explain why you should not allow people to dictate whom you open your heart to, it is purely a personal issue. Whom to marry is your personal responsibility, although we cannot rule out the role of counseling but is not the same as choosing whom to marry for a person.
Surprisingly, couples who profess heaven and earth till death do us part will not sustain that same passion that brought them together as soon as marriage is consummated, this is not godly. So we are here to suggest some workable and tested ways to sustain your love in your marriage.
If you can also practice this as couples, your marriage will receive a new wine.
- By professing love to each other- songs of Solomon 1:15-17, 4: 1-7
Follow the principle of king Solomon, for him to have been able to marry many wives ( though this is not biblical today), he must have wonderful ways of confessing his love and feelings to women. Love is of the heart but cannot be known and appreciated except it is openly confessed.
As a couple confess your love to each other on daily basis even when you quarrel and you are feeling bad about what your partner did, do not fail to mutter “I love you”, that is the only ingredient that will facilitate sweet forgiveness and togetherness.
Hear what king Solomon thought
I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.
Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?
SONGS OF SOLOMON 4:1-7
“Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes within thy locks: thy hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead.
Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them.
Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.
Thy neck is like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.
Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies.
Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.
Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.
