God is a supreme being who created man in His image and likeness. The earth
belongs to him, but He is always in a mission to show His power and glory to
mankind. To achieve this, He uses men He created to showcase His glory.
Who is then qualified to showcase God’s glory?
My journey to the book of Daniel revealed something spectacular to me.
In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
3 And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes;
4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
5 And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.
6 Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
7 Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
WHAT TO LEARN IN THIS PASSAGES
1). The Lord is aware of every situation around you either good or bad. VS. 2
2). Your disobedience to His word brings negative occurrence to you out of His anger. VS.2.
3). Even though He is angry with you, He still value your life.
4). If you can still stand for Him in any situation, He will be willing to show his glory through

This answered the question, WHO WILL SHOWCASE GOD’S GLORY?
This is the revelation, in verse two, all the people the king captured are Israelites, the seeds of
the king and princes.
But it is only through Daniel, Shadrach; Meshach and Abednego that God could showcase His
Glory. What then happened to the rest? There names were not known in Babylon where
God drove them because of their sins except the four who made up their mind to still be
steadfast and never to loose their faith in God despite their conditions.
Through these four Hebrew men the world came to know the living God.
Read also Daniel chapter 6:1-end.
Daniel refused to be disturbed by the conspiracy of his colleagues in the king service
who vowed to bring him down, he continued in his commitment to God. The result was that God
seized the opportunity to show his power again.
Vs 4.Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
6 Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions……
10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime…..
16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
19 Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.
20 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
21 Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.
22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
23 Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God……
26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.
27 He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
28 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
Consider what Job said in Job 13:15.
‘Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him’
God also manifested His glory through Job because he stood for God in his situation.
What is that situation facing your family right now, just stand for him till the end, at the end
He will show up for your sake.
Food for thought:
1). The glory is for God ( God said His glory will He not share with any man).
2). The blessings are for man ( the three Hebrew men were elevated in the land).
3). You must stand for him in any situation around you.
4) To show His glory through you, you must not relent in your commitment to Him.
5). The situations will turn to testimony if you refused to be distracted from your service to Him.
6). Never give up on God, He cares about you.
